You Don’t Need Motivation

Today is June 16, 2026. About 70% of the people who started working out in January have quit completely. They may even be farther from the goal that motivated them to start than when they actually started. Why does this happen? Year-over-year, these stats are about the same. You’re probably thinking they just needed more motivation, right?. So many people think that if they have a motivating song, podcast, routine, or whatever, it will keep them showing up and doing the work. They could not be more wrong.

Think of it like coffee, if just one cup a day always gave you the energy you needed to get through the day, then you would never want more. We all know it starts with one cup, next thing you know, all your drinks contain caffeine and you neglect water. This is the same with motivation, the video/song eventually loses that power and it’s just something you do. Working out requires way more than motivation, you need a WHY. Why do you workout? Why do you keep showing up? This is one of the big reasons I keep competing, to make sure I have a goal and I’m working towards something.

I am in no way saying everyone should step on stage, but I am saying that you should have a goal. Get stronger and get leaner are usually the ones we hear, next is setting up the plan. A goal without a plan is just a dream, and it will most likely remain a dream until that plan is acted on. I challenge you to sit with this and come up with your goal, one will suffice, there may be more and that’s OK too. Once you have done that, send me your goal. I would love to hear it! From there, let’s work on achieving that goal. We are always here to help at FA Fitness Studio.
