What is Your Story?
I’m here for the misfits. The over-thinkers. The self-aware. The shy.
The never-have-I-evers, the usedtacoulds, the back-in-the-dayers.
The nerds, the procrastinators, the busy, the harried, the self-doubters, the ones who don’t own “gym clothes”. I started lifting weights at about 19 because I wanted to change how I looked, and we didn’t lift really at all in high school.
I struggled to put on muscle or gain weight, but I felt more confidence, and knew I was on the right track.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I got my first personal training job.
Thankful for YouTube University and some amazing people who were making content because there was so much I didn’t know. A degree in kinesiology will only teach you so much, so I studied countless extra hours on the things that interested me.
Little did I know this would lead to me being the “physical therapy trainer.”
Right around my 32nd birthday, we moved to Boone. 7 long months later, I opened Freedom Athletics: a gym for people like me who wanted freedom in their lives.
Freedom to hike, run, bike, swim, ski, or anything.
Freedom to eat as they want.
Freedom from the strict rules this industry tries to sell to make it seem complicated.
A gym for All Of The Above.
Like every awkward entrepreneur, we took a few detours before we really found ourselves.
For a while, we were more of a supplement store than a gym.
Little by little the gym grew and people started bringing their friends.
There may have been a brief “what are we doing?” Period in there…but we don’t talk about that.
We earned a couple of scars and learned from several “failures.”
But like all of your favorite people, we eventually figured it out:
we’re here to make the best YOU.
Just like all of your favorite people, my gym has a story.
I want you to have one worth sharing too.
